Meditation is the moment when you realize to be alive, while all the others around you are suffocated by work and problems. Even if all of us that are here writing, reading or listening, know that we are alive, this is just a weak awareness because we do not respect ourselves and our life how we should. The only moments in which we realize that we want to live or to feel alive happen when we are facing something that scares us, something that makes us believe that we are about to die, even if we do not have a gun pointed against us. Every single thing that scares us makes us think how much we want to live. This happens because during the day we are suffocated by our routine for our own decision; so, just when we should enjoy our life and be happy about who we are and what we have, we waste our time thinking about problems, our failures, about those things that are able to hurt us. We waste our precious time dying inside even if our body is still alive. Isn’t this weird? We are alive and yet we are killing us inside. Meditation is the decision to feel alive in every moment. Feeling alive is beautiful because it makes you realize to be in the right place at the right time; it doesn’t make you feel wrong, it doesn’t make you feel out of place nor born by mistake or with a cruel destiny.

Feeling alive makes you understand that you are here because it is right this way and finally you can feel in peace with yourself. There is no gossip or anyone else’s opinion that can hurt you as much as your own negative one does. The problem is that we are taught since our childhood to respect our life only when it’s about to end. We see this in the people around us – we realize indeed that we want to spend more time with a person only when he or she is about to die – and we see this inside of us, because we appreciate our life only when we are facing a problem or when someone threatens to take her away from us. This is a terrible way of living, because we waste every single moment of our life living negatively, and only when we are about to lose something we love we suddenly realize how differently we should have used our time, in order to enjoy it more. Before even thinking that the meditation is a technique in which you sit and relax, realize that the real Meditation is the decision to be alive just when you have plenty of time to live. Not every single person is conscious of being alive. Many of the people around you are acting like robots: they are enslaved by the routine because they work, they come back home and watch tv, then they eat and then again sleep. They don’t have a real life. They follow a program that was imposed by others and that is difficult to understand if you don’t observe those around you and instead you keep looking at your feet, because you don’t realize how everyone is moved by somebody else’s will. If you look around, you’ll see people moving and acting even if they are sleeping inside. It’s like watching a worker, exhausted because of the effort, falling asleep in the factory while his hands keep working even if he is not conscious anymore, because his body can move and do preset actions without being awake. It happened in the past due to the excess of work, nowadays it happens because of the excess of unconsciousness.

The Meditation is a practice that has always been a part of us, even if nowadays its name might be unfamiliar because we’ve let the excessive modern stress suffocate us. The Meditation is first of all a mental state, then it’s a technique. It is very important to practice it because knowing only the theory is not enough to achieve its benefits. First of all, a good session of meditation requires the internal decision to really want to practice it, because it offers a state of mental Freedom from the programs and all the burdens leaning upon us, a state and a sensation that is not easy to recognise and comprehend at the very beginning. The Meditation makes us alive in living bodies, because that’s what we are, we just forget it too many times. In case you are someone that already knows and has practiced the Mediation for some time, everything will be easier and you’ll be able to read the next pages with more easiness; in case you have never had any experience or any knowledge about this moment of mental and physical ease, it’s time to become familiar with it. Nowadays relaxation is often underestimated, as if wellness is something that doesn’t belong to us, because it’s boring and useless, as if it is a waste of time. I’ll be happy to prove the opposite.

Being well is not a waste of time, feeling bad it is: it makes us waste a lot of occasions and throw them away. I wish you to comprehend what really Meditation is and that you don’t take it as something for few, for the chosen one, or for those that have nothing to do. Don’t try to hurry and get everything immediately if you don’t even know what you want to achieve. So relax, take your time and step after step you will improve your life and your way of living. I invite you to prove the first taste of the real Meditation that I’m ready to teach you. Probably for you it’s the first time, so we will start from the simplest basis and then arrive to the real technique. The aim of this Meditation is mental wellness, so the relaxation: the first goal we have to achieve. Without it the Meditation will not work as it should, risking to halve its effectiveness and look almost pointless. The hardest but the most important step is to learn how to relax; once you learn this the rest will be easy. We are about to begin a session that will last for 10 minutes. I will guide you all the time, telling you the steps you will have to do to complete a beautiful Meditation. I suggest you to use the audio version, or you can keep reading this page following the indications. In this case you should dedicate at least one minute to every step.

Sit comfortably and relax.

Focus only on my words…

Do not think about anything, remove any thought that you don’t need right now.

Focus only on your relaxation.

Breathe… and focus on the depth of your breath.

Pay attention to every single breath…

Start breathing deeply and calmly… breathe with your belly.

Do not think about anything…

Feel your neck’s muscles loosening… and relax it.

Relax your shoulders…

Relax the muscles of your face…

Focus on your heartbeat and relax…

Feel it beating…

Feel it as you have never done before…

Breathe… and feel yourself relaxing…

Relax the neck…

The shoulders…

The face…

Now relax your back…

Now…

Relax your mind…

Feel the lightness creating in our mind…

Feel how beautiful it is to relax… and to think about nothing…

It makes you feel… for a moment… alive…

For a moment again… just a moment… feel happy to be here… in the present…

Take just a moment… don’t go immediately away…

It’s so beautiful to be with yourself…

Relax… your body is asking… your mind is begging…

Don’t be shy… after all… there is just you with yourself…

Relax just a bit longer… Breathe deeply…

Thank you… For letting me relax you…

Now you are ready to open your eyes… in every way.

This was just a taste of the Meditation and I hope that it has created in you a little desire to relax more often, because as you could see, there is no reason why you shouldn’t do it. If you wish, practice again this session of relaxation, until you are ready to move to the next step. I’ll be waiting.
